Solow makes winning return
Freddy Head’s brilliant grey, who is now unbeaten in his last 10 starts, used this one-mile heat on the Polytrack as a stepping stone towards the Dubai Turf at Meydan last year.
He is now set to follow a similar path after a victory that was not without a degree of incident.
Maxime Guyon and his partner were fleetingly trapped for room by Vadamos on the far rail, but Solow’s class soon came to the fore and he ended up winning tidily.
Meanwhile, Gordon Lord Byron could make his return in the Big Bad Bob Gladness Stakes at the Curragh on April 3 after Tom Hogan was forced to scrap a planned outing at Dundalk.
The eight-year-old enjoyed limited success last term but received a boost to his form when Home Of The Brave was disqualified from the Minstrel Stakes after testing positive for a banned substance.
Gordon Lord Byron was duly promoted to first place but that victory means he is no longer able to run at Dundalk, prompting Hogan to switch his attentions to the Curragh Group Three event.
Hogan said: “While we’re happy with the Group Three, it does make life a bit more difficult. We will probably look to the Gladness Stakes with him now.”
