The racing industry has long called for government intervention against the current system, from which offshore online betting is exempt and costs the sport tens of millions of pounds.

Bob Blackman, Conservative MP for Harrow East, will ask John Whittingdale, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, “what progress he has made on replacing the current horserace betting levy”.
