Today's Tips: Down in grade Corrin Tiger can pounce in sixth at Youghal
The last time he was able to take his chance in A5 company he ran out an easy winner, and the same can be expected tonight. Well drawn on the wide outside, he has the pace to turn close and, as his recent efforts over 550 yards suggest, he is in great form and should prove very hard to beat. The danger may come from the promising Whitty Tyson, who was picked up late by one of tonight’s rivals, Spitfire Jazz, last time out. He looks drawn to lead on the inside, and will be hard to keep out of the frame.
Mums Misty can make all the running in race nine. Liam Curtin’s bitch possesses very smart early pace, as she showed once more when leading for a long way here last week. While she was picked up late by one of her rivals here, Elsinore Breeze, she’s entitled to be better for the run, and looks a likely leader once more.
She recorded 28.77 in defeat in a red-hot A7 at Curraheen Park last year, suggesting there could be more to come around this track. If, as expected, she can clear the inside runner in the early stages, she’ll take catching. The promising Fairhill Timmy might give him most to think about, though Cracker Barrell is a very strong stayer, and the race could be run to suit the fast finishers.
Coolbeggan Ace can take the finale for Peter Stead. Last time out he bounded clear early but found the 550 yards trip too demanding, and was caught late by Luachmhar. However, there was plenty of encouragement to be taken from the effort and if he can break a little better over this shorter trip, he should be able to make the most of a favourable draw, next to the rails.
