Ireland eventing manager Nick Turner believes he has a “strong team of horses and riders” carrying Irish hopes in the nations cup at Aachen, Germany, this weekend.

Announcing his quartet yesterday, he said: “I’m delighted that we have a strong team of horses and riders that have already achieved good international results this season and look forward to great competition over the next few days here in Aachen.”

Cork has double the interest, with British-based Mallow native Austin O’Connor selected on the 10-year-old gelding Kilpatrick Knight, while Bandon-based Limerickman Michael Ryan gets the nod with the 10-year-old Dunlough Striker.
