Theos Well can spark Michael Winters double
The seven-year-old, winner of a Listowel bumper back in September 2013, boasts solid placed form over hurdles and, following three runs in Flat maidens in recent weeks, should be primed to open his hurdling account.
Placed three times over hurdles, Theos Well hasn’t run over obstacles since chasing home Lean And Keen in Cork last August.
But he caught the eye in a flat maiden in Clonmel last week, when making late headway to finish fifth, beaten over nine lengths, behind Highly Toxic.
Back over hurdles today, Theos Well should prove tough to beat and is expected to prove too strong for the consistent but frustrating Patsio, runner-up to Master Appeal at Tramore last time.
The Winters camp will also have high hopes for racecourse debutant Knocknanuss, carrying the Rebel Fitz colours of Brian Sweetnam, in the second of the point-to-point bumpers.
Winner of his only point-to-point in Killeagh back in January, he looks a good prospect and, with Finny Maguire claiming 7lb, this strapping Beneficial gelding makes plenty of appeal.
Willie Mullins might have the solution to the other point-to-point bumper for mares in the shape of Monbeg Rose, bought by Gigginstown House Stud after landing her only point-to-point at Tyrella in January.
