Pour Deux can defy fitness concerns in Dundalk

John Oxx might strike with his first runner of 2015, Pour Deux, in tonight’s finale in Dundalk.

Pour Deux can defy fitness concerns in Dundalk

The Dansili filly showed enough in her three runs last season to suggest she should be capable of getting off the mark on her first visit to the polytrack and giving Oxx a timely boost virtually on the eve of the new turf season.

Pour Deux, who carries the familiar colours of Lady O’Reilly, contested three competitive fillies events in 2014, filling third spot on each occasion.

She made her debut in a winners’ race at the Curragh in mid-August, behind Run The Red Light, and then started second favourite for a Navan maiden, in which she finished third to market rival Bocca Baciata.

In her final juvenile start, Pour Deux finished third to Easter (who had finished second in the Navan race) in a Leopardstown maiden in late October.

Tonight, Pour Deux faces colts for the first time. And her fitness must be taken on trust.

But this 84-rated filly should be very tough to beat, with Dermot Weld’s once-raced colt Don Camillo and a couple of Ger Lyons-trained newcomers in opposition.

The Shay Barry-trained, 74-rated Mozetta performed consistently enough last season, finishing third to smart fillies like Silwana and Srarlet.

And, making her seasonal debut, she sets the standard in the Visit attheraces.com/topoffers Maiden.

The earlier Median Auction race brings together previous winners Hat Alnasar and Indian Tomahawk and the promising maiden Navegante.

And preference is for Michael O’Callaghan’s Indian Tomahawk, despite an absence since November, when he beat the very useful subsequent dual-winner Charlie Bear and Sgt Rock.
