Progressing Hat Alnasar looks the one to be on
A son of Moss Vale, he stepped up significantly on his debut sixth behind subsequent winner Charlie Bear to be narrowly beaten by an 80-rated rival over a mile three weeks ago.
In front at the furlong-pole, Hat Alnasar was collared close home and beaten a head by Song Of Love, which will be a popular fancy for tonight’s www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap.
Tonight, Conor Hoban’s mount drops back to seven furlongs in the Elusive Pimpernel Median Auction Maiden.
And, if continuing to progress, he should prove tough to beat.
Little more than a week before he unleashes his heavy artillery on Cheltenham, Willie Mullins might well land the second division of the Follow Us On Facebook Handicap with the Tom Madden-ridden Poker Gold.
A costly failure on his debut for Mullins in late January, the Gold Away gelding made amends last week when, having travelled strongly, he held the late challenge of Cristy’s Call (fancied for the first division tonight) by a short-head in a mile and a half handicap.
Poker Gold probably travelled too well on that occasion and will not be inconvenienced by dropping back slightly in trip tonight.
Up 4lb. for last week’s win, he should follow-up.
Some of the ‘old reliables’ will turn up for the opening dash, the five-furlong Floodlit Friday NightsHandicap.
And, although she’s drawn on the outside of the seven runners and has gone up 4lb. for her most recent defeat by the progressive Our Pal Tal over course and distance, the Chris Hayes-ridden Majestic Timeline might lead her rivals a merry dance.
