Willie Mullins is relishing the prospect of sending Un De Sceaux to the Cheltenham Festival after he brilliantly won the Frank Ward Solicitors Arkle Chase at Leopardstown.

The unbeaten hurdler fluffed his lines on his chasing debut at Thurles, but got back on track at Fairyhouse last month.

He then stepped up to another level on Sunday when he gave Grade One winner Clarcam lumps of weight and a comprehensive beating.

The seven-year-old is now odds-on with some bookmakers for the Arkle Trophy at the Festival in March.

Mullins said: “He passed his test with flying colours and we look forward to going over the water with him.”

Frankie Dettori meanwhile could be part of the Channel 4 team covering the Crabbie’s Grand National this year.

Much speculation has taken place as to the precise make-up of those presenting the Aintree spectacular in April following the announcement Clare Balding will only be available for Cheltenham and Royal Ascot.

Ever-popular Dettori made frequent cameos on the channel last season, when his riding commitments as retained jockey to the increasingly power Al Shaqab Racing operation allowed.

Dettori said: “Last year I didn’t have that many horses to ride and I really enjoyed it (Channel 4). I probably won’t have the time so much this year with the horses I have to ride, but if I have the odd slot – I’ve been asked to do the Grand National and if I’m free I wouldn’t mind doing it.

“When it’s Newmarket I wouldn’t mind helping them out, but I’d say I won’t be as busy on Channel 4 as I was last year.”
