Clara set for further success
The six-year-old was last seen when winning a four-horse race at Roscommon last month.
Partnered with patience by Davy Condon, the selection was nicely on top in the closing stages to beat two horses preferred to her in the market, Waaheb and Seefood.
Clara Mc Cloud had three and a quarter lengths to spare over Seefood and has to be fancied to confirm the placings on the same terms.
The injured Condon is now replaced byBarry Geraghty, hardly a minus, and Clara Mc Cloud gets the vote ahead of Desertmore Stream, who is the best treated at the weights.
Henry de Bromhead’s Tisamystery is the choice in the Midland Breeders’ Supporting Kilbeggan Beginners Chase.
He was returning from a break when third to Un Beau Roman at Tramore and, hopefully, can build on that.
Returning from an even longer absence last time was Notorious Villain and he gets the nod in the Athlone Bumper.
Michael Mulvany’s charge may have gone down by 14 lengths when second to Aidan O’Brien’s MacBride at Tipperary in the middle of July, but was far from disgraced. The booking of Robbie McNamara shapes as a real positive.
Curragh Golan, grabbed late and beaten a short head by Cassells Rock at Bellewstown last week, can defy a 4lbs rise in the weights in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle.
