Kompany set for Curragh

Richard Hannon’s prolific juvenile Kool Kompany is set to be supplemented for Sunday’s Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh.

The Jeremy colt has won five times from six starts during his debut season, with his only defeat coming when failing to fire in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He has since proved that running all wrong with victories in the Railway Stakes at the Curragh and the Prix Robert Papin at Maisons-Laffitte, and connections are keen to test the water at Group One level in Ireland.

Tim Palin, racing manager for owners Middleham Park Racing, said: “He is entered in the Prix Morny, but as usual the Hannon team have a lot of good two-year-olds to juggle with the likes of Ivawood, Tiggy Wiggy and Estidhkaar also in the mix along with Kool Kompany.

“Richard Hannon will ring me in the morning with a gallops report, but assuming all is well with Kool Kompany and he’s thriving, the plan is to supplement him for the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.

“We think he deserves his shot at Group One level.”
