Quarton makes no mistake this time

Paul Carberry stole the show again on the final day of Bellewstown’s three-day July Meeting, completing a fine double on Quarton and Aranhill Chief.

Quarton makes no mistake this time

A beaten favourite on Friday night, Quarton made amends when justifying 7/4 favouritism in the Seamus Mulvaney Crockafotha Handicap Hurdle, coming from off the pace to lead after the second last flight before shooting clear and surviving an untidy leap at the last to score, readily, by five lengths.

Quarton is trained by Gordon Elliott, who explained: “His owner Tony Cromwell only lives a quarter of a mile away. So Bellewstown was always the plan. I thought he’d win on both days, but it didn’t work out on Friday. He won well today, which was grand. He might win another and he jumps fences well.”
