Bentelimar looks poised to complete hat-trick

Fenton’s charge is on a hat-trick mission and shapes as if well capable of turning over his 125-rated opponent.

Bentelimar got off the mark in fine style in a bumper at Tramore in April, justifying favouritism .

He then contested what looked a competitive maiden hurdle at Killarney and came through that test with reputation greatly enhanced.

The five-year-old found plenty in the straight to beat Yes Sir Brian by a length and a half with the subsequent winner, Ellie Mia, in third place.

Shield, a snug winner of his maiden at Cork, was then beaten by a pair of smart horses in Draycott Place and The Plan Man at Limerick, but Bentelimar is preferred, on the basis he has far more scope for improvement than his rival.
