Smullen sparkles as Queen rules in Ballyogan

Pat Smullen was seen at his tactical best when guiding the Tracey Collins-trained Majestic Queen to a convincing two lengths win over Lady Cecil’s odds-on favourite Joyeuse in the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes in Leopardstown last night.

The former champion tracked trailblazing Body Beuatiful until delivering his challenge early in the straight. And the Kheleyf filly found plenty in the closing stages to record an emphatic win.

The delighted trainer stated: “We’ve always thought a lot of her and she produced tonight what she knew she was capable of. Dropping back in trip probably helped her and, of course, Pat gave her a beautiful ride and was in the right place as the race panned out.
