Knockanarrigan can complete hat-trick
His last two wins have come over fences, the six-year-old shaping as if he is a much- improved horse.
At Fairyhouse in May, he only won by a short head, but was nicely in command when slipping badly at the back of the final fence.
Then, off a mark 8lbs higher, the selection won in a canter by six lengths at Punchestown last month.
Knockanarrigan is now rated 116 over fences, but competes here off a mark of 105, so is clearly the one they all have to beat.
John Kiely’s once-raced Liss Ui Riain is the choice in the Ladies’ Day At Roscommon On July 7th Bumper.
The daughter of Definite Article was partnered by an inexperienced 7lbs claiming lady rider when third to Ballychorus at Killarney.
Fort Smith (second) and Thats My Rabbit (fifth) have won in the meantime and Liss Ui Riain will now be ridden by Derek O’Connor.
Jim Dreaper’s Ellie Mia gets the nod in the Regans’ Bar and Quinntins’ Restaurant Maiden Hurdle.
She had Little Rocky three parts of a length behind in fourth when a close third to Bentelimar and Yes Sir Brian at Killarney and an extra three furlongs now should work in her favour.
The www.roscommonracecourse.ie Maiden Hurdle has been divided and the first section is easily the weakest and may go to Overcall, third behind Ashjar and Honey Pound at Tramore. The aforementioned Honey Pound, eight lengths in front of Overcall then, gets the nod in the second division.
