Carla to chalk up another for Weld

Dermot Weld can continue his terrific start to the season by landing the Champions’ Restaurant At Dundalk Stadium Fillies Maiden with Carla Bianca on the all-weather tonight.

Carla to chalk up another for Weld

She began life by chasing home the much-hyped Australia, only beaten three parts of a length, at the Curragh in July, before reappearing in September, back at headquarters, in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes.

The daughter of Dansili cut little ice in that contest, finishing fourth behind the impressive Clive Brittain-trained Rizeena.

Carla Bianca did stay on quite well at the end, however, and can now show her appreciation of a drop in class and going up a furlong in trip.

Aidan O’Brien takes the wraps off the ex-American horse, Due Diligence, in the Patton Stakes and it will be most interesting to get an idea of just how talented this son of War Front is.

He was formerly in the care of Todd Pletcher and won by a head first time out over five and a half furlongs at Saratoga in August.

Due Diligence then went to Belmont Park and could only finish eight lengths fourth over a mile and half a furlong.

O’Brien now starts him off at sevenfurlongs and he has to get the vote in what does not shape as the hottest of Listed events.

O’Brien can also take the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden with the once-raced Ruby Tuesday.

This daughter of Galileo was given kid glove treatment on her debut at Leopardstown last month, when fourth to JimBolger’s Ceisteach.

She raced at the back for a lot of the ten furlongs journey on that occasion before running on strongly in the straight, giving the impression that there was plenty to come.
