The 11-year-old was denied the chance of a fifth successive triumph last year through injury. He is, though, on course in his bid to take his undefeated run over hurdles to 19 in the £60,000 galliardhomes.com Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham on Saturday week.

Paul Nicholls holds a strong World Hurdle hand with Celestial Halo and Zarkandar also engaged along with Saphir Du Rheu and Salubrious.

Celestial Halo was second last year, but the winner Solwhit is injured and unable to defend his crown.

However, Reve De Sivola will try to improve on his fourth last March.

Willie Mullins houses six of the 10 Irish-trained entries, including star mares Annie Power and Quevega.

Annie Power is also entered in the Stan James Champion Hurdle while Quevega is likely to go for a record six-timer in the OLBG Mares’ Hurdle this year. Mullins has also entered Boston Bob, Thousand Stars, Zaidpour and Rubi Ball.

The Irish challenge could also include Noel Meade’s Monksland, who has been off the track for over a year, Dedigout, Mala Beach and Rule The World. JP McManus could be represented by At Fishers Cross, trained by Rebecca Curtis, and Jonjo O’Neill’s More Of That.
