Lynam hoping for Slade invitation

Eddie Lynam is hoping Slade Power will get an invitation for the Hong Kong Sprint after staking a strong claim with victory at Ascot on Saturday.

Lynam hoping for Slade invitation

The Co Meath trainer already has one automatic entry for the six-furlong Group One at Sha Tin in December in Sole Power thanks to his success in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.

“We always thought the world of Slade Power and it’s all coming into place. He was good in the stalls and did everything right. I was delighted with him,” Lynam told At The Races.

“As for Hong Kong, we’re putting Slade Power’s name forward and it’s possible he could get one as well. After that there’s Dubai.”

Lynam also gave updates on Viztoria and Balmont Mast, who were third and 11th respectively behind their stablemate in the Qipco British Champions Sprint.

“The filly (Viztoria) ran a great race for a three-year-old,” he said. Viztoria is finished for the year and she’ll go home to (owner) Sheila Lavery’s next week for her holidays and they have a decision to make whether they retain her for breeding or send her back to me to train. Obviously I hope they send her back. She’s a very good filly.

“Balmont Mast was in great form before the race but on Saturday night and Sunday morning he had a snotty nose so he’s possibly brewing up something. We’ll scope him and we’ll put a line through that run.”
