Afonso to recoup losses
The Henry The Navigator colt showed a liking for this surface on his somewhat belated reappearance late last month, beating in-form Dabadiyan by a comfortable length and a half.
He then came back to Dundalk a week later and was preferred in the market to the smart Paris Hall in a Group 3. The three-year-old, however, ran far too freely and had nothing left from early in the straight, as first Parish Hall went past and then Manalapan near the line.
Manalapan eventually finished half a length in front of Afonso de Sousa and the pair renew rivalry on the same terms.
Afonso de Sousa is fancied to reverse placings, in the hope he will settle much better through the first half of the contest on this occasion.
