Indevan set for four-timer

Willie Mullins’ Indevan can complete a four-timer in the Easyfix Rubber Products Novice Hurdle at Galway this evening.

Indevan set for four-timer

Successful in a bumper and twice over flights, this is easily his stiffest test to date, but the progressive five-year-old is the nap choice to come through with flying colours.

He was a 1-5 shot to beat three modest opponents at Sligo on his latest appearance and hardly broke sweat to score in a canter.

That told us little, but his previous victory at Punchestown was far more revealing. Indevan found plenty for Ruby Walsh pressure, over two and a half miles, to power to the front going to the last and slam previous winner, The Job Is Right, by three and three quarter lengths.

Que Pasa and Giant’s Quest are two smart rivals now, but the uphill climb to the home turn will play to Indevan’s strengths and he should prove hard to beat.

It could be a good day for Mullins, who unwraps yet another French import, Vicky de L’Oasis, in the opening Anglo Printers Maiden Hurdle.

The market will be the best guide to her prospects, but she does bring useful credentials to the table.

Vicky de L’Oasis was last seen finishing second at Saint-Cloud last November, having landed three bumpers in a row prior to that.

A third Mullins possibility is Shesafoxylady in the Jamie Kyne Memorial Mares’ Bumper.

This daughter of Trans Island was well touted when making her debut at the festival here in August, went off favourite, but could only manage third behind Dermot Weld’s Dont Tell No One and Shark Hanlon’s Giantofaman.

The ground was very testing on that occasion and the selection may be seen in a better light, on what promises to be a far quicker surface.

Michael Winters’ classy Rebel Fitz, who has shown a liking for the track in the past, has to be fancied to complete a four-timer in the Deacy Gilligan Novice Chase.
