Sugar sore after Derby flop

Trainer Patrick Prendergast reports Sugar Boy to be “very sore” following his run in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh on Saturday.

The Sandown Classic Trial winner could not cope with the fast ground and trailed in last of nine behind Trading Leather.

“The vets have seen him this morning and given him painkillers and anti-inflammatories. In the long-term he should be fine,” said Prendergast.
