Camelot the star attraction

Dual Derby-winner Camelot will be the star attraction when he makes his seasonal debut in the Group 3 High Chaparral Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh.

Aidan O’Brien’s charge, which failed in his bid for the Triple Crown when beaten by Encke in the St. Leger last September, should make a successful return in a five-strong field, which also includes 2011 Dewhurst Stakes victor Parish Hall.

Camelot, unbeaten in two juvenile starts, won the Qipco 2,000 Guineas a year ago this weekend before proving an impressive winner of both the Investec Derby at Epsom and the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at the Curragh.

Stepped-up to a mile and six furlongs, he went down narrowly in the St.Leger before finishing seventh to Solemia in the’Arc’ at Longchamp in October.

Aidan O’Brien is using today’s race as a stepping-stone to the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Guineas meeting in three weeks.

And, rated 12lb. superior to Parish Hall - a workmanlike winner of s listed event at the Curragh on his return after a lengthy absence - Joseph O’Brien’s mount is difficult to oppose.

The Eddie Lynam-trained filly Viztroia, unbeaten in her two starts as a two-year-old, will be expected to boost her Irish 1,000 Guineas prospects in the Grade 3 Canford Cliffs Athasi Stakes.
