Kandinski poised to come good
His rather frustrating Kandinski is the nap choice in the Welcome Back To The Racecourse Of The Year Maiden Hurdle.
The ex-winning point-to-pointer has finished second in five of his six outings on the track and that is obviously a worry. Twice he has looked like winning at Navan, but got mugged on both occasions, after a tendency to run too freely did him no favours. Kandinski did, however, start off the current campaign with a promising fourth over flights behind King Of Firth at Fairyhouse in January and this test represents a good opportunity.
Tyner’s Byerley Babe gets the nod to complete a hat trick in the Treacys’ Pharmacy Rated Hurdle.
Successful in a maiden at Limerick and a handicap at Cork, she is best when held up off a decent pace. There is every chance the contest will be run to suit, with the likes of Top Madam and Beau Michael having a preference for bowling along near the front.
Calibre Style is also a real possibility for Tyner in the concluding Western People Bumper. She split Definite Dream and the useful Ally Cascade at Tipperary last April, before reappearing at Cork in October. The daughter of Tikkanen finished sixth of 18 behind Elegant Statesman, after failing to get a clear run with less than three furlongs to run and stumbling. The selection now has an absence of 191 days to overcome, so her travels in the market will be important, in what is a weak race.
