Gale Force Ten can make amends

Aidan O’Brien’s Gale Force Ten can land the Listed Elusive Pimpernel Patton Stakes at Dundalk tonight.

Gale Force Ten can make amends

The worry is that a lot of O’Brien’s horses have seemed to badly need their initial run so far this campaign, but the selection has a lot in hand, between 13lbs and 20lbs, on his five rivals and literally picks himself.

He mixed it with some of the best juveniles last season, finishing with a cracking effort in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket in October.

The son of Oasis Dream was beaten a neck and the same into third place behind Reckless Abandon and Moohaajim and, hopefully, will now strip reasonably well forward and in that sort of form.

The Mags Mullins-trained Cairdin is the choice in the two-mile www.thetote.com Maiden.

Cairdin was disappointing in a similar contest behind Pique Sous here in early February, but never got into a rhythm, is certainly far better than he looked then.

Peter McCreery’s Zeftan, beaten a neck into second behind Lonan at Dundalk last month, gets the nod in the one-mile www.thetote.com Maiden.
