Lucy can open account
The meeting must pass an 8a.m. inspection, called yesterday afternoon (when the going was described as soft) due to an adverse weather forecast.
Trained by Tom Cooper, Our Girl Lucy was successful over hurdles (off a mark of 92) in Mallow back in July and then acquitted herself well in Killarney.
But, significantly, the Flemensfirth mare appeared to have an appetite for chasing when making her fencing debut in Killarney in August, racing prominently and jumping well until readily brushed aside by Jacksonslady from the second last.
Admittedly, Philip Dempsey’s mare stretched clear to beat the selection by sixteen lengths. But she franked the form when going close against the prolific winner Pride Of The Artic in a Grade 3 novice in Tipperary on Sunday.
