Stick with Catcherinscratcher
Henry de Bromhead’s mare arrives on the back of two hard fought wins over fences and is in good shape right now.
At Tipperary in June she kept finding for Davy Russell to take a beginners chase and it was s similar story when stepping into novice company at Killarney in the middle of July. Catcherinscratcher again showed all the right qualities to beat the useful Definite Class by a length and three parts.
Shakervilz is the highest rated in the contest and has 8lbs in hand of the selection at the weights.
But he is no longer the most reliable of sorts and hasn’t been seen since scrambling to a three parts of a length win over stable companion Sergent Guib’s on this track in May.
Willie Mullins trains Shakervilz and, whatever that horse’s fate, can provide the answer to the Bumper with Wrong Way Corrigan.
He’s a fairly ordinary sort, but did finish to some effect when chasing home Vintage Supreme at Cork and this represents a good opportunity.
Likewise Mullins’ Sicilian Secret, a frustrating horse, has been found a contest within his capabilities in the Midland Breeders’ Supporting Kilbeggan Beginners Chase, having finished a close fourth here last time behind Cloone Rocket.
