Moscrop ‘fine’ after Ripon fall

Ripon racecourse officials say Eva Moscrop is “fine” after the young jockey suffered a bad fall at the North Yorkshire venue yesterday.

Racing was delayed 40 minutes after she was unshipped from Brenkley Melani, which she owns and bred, on the way to the start of the SIS Live Maiden Stakes.

During the delay, the other runners were returned to the paddock to allow the helicopter to land as near to Moscrop as possible. Moscrop was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary complaining of neck and back injuries.

Subsequent X-rays confirmed she had not sustained any serious damage, according to Ripon’s official twitter feed, which stated: “News from LGI is that Eva is fine and all X-rays clear.”

* Jockey Charles Bishop was suspended 10 days for two separate incidents on the same horse at Chepstow.

The 5lb claimer was banned three days (September 10-12) for careless riding aboard Nice Story, who won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden Fillies’ Stakes. Bishop was also suspended seven days (September 13-18 and another day to be notified) for using his whip above the permitted level.
