Major drifter Discoteca defies the odds
Odds-on favourite in the morning, the four-year-old was easy to back on-course before being sent off the 11/8 jolly and, in a tactical race, he came through under Keith Donoghue in the closing stages to get the better of Dibella by a head.
“He wouldn’t walk on that ground,” stated Elliott afterwards. “But, when the race cut up, we decided to let him take his chance. Keith said he hated the ground and couldn’t jump well out of it. He’ll be entered for the Galway Hurdle now. He’s a far better horse on better ground.”
