Man set to return to Ascot

Reliable Man is to return to Ascot for the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes following his creditable effort at the Royal meeting.

French trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre is keen to take the four-year-old back to the Berkshire circuit for the mile-and-a-half showpiece on July 21.

Last season’s French Derby hero put in his best work at the finish when fourth to So You Think in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes over a mile and a quarter.

“He’s going to the King George in Ascot. If he has a good gallop that’s the main target for his next race,” Royer-Dupre said.

“I think he is going better than he was before his last race in Ascot which is why we want to come back to the same place.

“I know it’s going to be tough competition but it could be interesting to go.”
