Charlie nicely off the mark

Despite ongoing issues with the weather, it’s been a good week and the highlight for the stable was our apprentice, Charlie Elliott, riding his first winner, aboard Bendzoldan at Leopardstown on Thursday night.

It was a great achievement on what was only his fifth ride. Maybe Benzoldan was the best horse in the race but so much can go wrong and Charlie gave her a very good ride. We were all delighted for him and hopefully that was the first of many.

That was the filly’s second win this month and I must admit I was a little surprised she went through the ground as well as she did. We’ll have to wait and see what the handicapper does before making further plans.
