Back-to-form Arctic may run in Wokingham

Highlight of the flat action in Navan last night was the return to form of the Tracy Collins-trained Arctic in the Follow Navan On Facebook Handicap, the grey five-year-old registering his first success since landing the Group 3 Round Tower Stakes at the Curragh as a juvenile.

Back-to-form Arctic may run in Wokingham

Always prominent under Mick Hussey, Arctic stretched clear to beat Footprint by two and a half lengths. His trainer admitted: “It’s great to have him back to form. He needs soft ground and might go for the Wokingham in Royal Ascot next Saturday. If I think it’s coming too soon, he’ll wait for the Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh on Derby weekend.”

Raised 7lb. for a recent win in Listowel, the Charles O’Brien-trained Stocktons Wing (Fran Berry) came from last to first to land a gamble (7/2 to 7/4) in the concluding www/navangolfclub.ie Handicap. The top-weight hung at a crucial stage before knuckling down to short-head Sure Reef.
