The once-raced son of Dansili made his debut at Roscommon last month and went off a very easy to back 11-1 shot.

He performed well in advance of his odds, however, finishing a length and a quarter second behind Michael Halford’s heavily-backed Massiyn.

The selection came from behind to lead over a furlong down, but had nothing left in the closing stages and the winner was too strong.

Encouragingly it was a further six and a half lengths back to the third, Security Breach, and that horse has done his bit for the form in the meantime.

He went on to take a maiden at Tramore and was then touched off by Shamooda in a competitive handicap at Fairyhouse on Wednesday night.

Cougar Ridge, if meeting the engagement, he hasn’t been jocked up, looks the answer to the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Median Auction Race.

The Johannesburg colt was all the rage in the market at Leopardstown on his debut and didn’t disappointment, giving Angela’s Dream a hefty 11lbs and a beating of two and three parts of a lengths.

The rest of the Navan card consists of a dreadful claiming race and four virtually impossible to solve handicaps, so the alternative is to glance in the direction of Clonmel.

There isn’t, mind you, much to look forward to here either, although Tom Cooper’s Eightybarackstreet might make a winning start over fences in the Funky Friday BBQ Evening Beginners Chase.

He has a touch of class, producing a decent enough effort when third behind Satu and Rattan in a valuable handicap hurdle at Killarney last time.
