Aidan O’Brien’s 2000 Guineas winner Camelot features among a rich collection of 50 entries in the Red Mills Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on September 8.

Camelot tops Champion entry

Essentially Ireland’s most prestigious Flat race, it contains most of this season’s best-known horses, even if Frankel was not listed among them.

Entered are the likes of Bonfire, Parish Hall, Cirrus Des Aigles, St Nicholas Abbey, Twice Over, Reliable Man, Monterosso, Cityscape, last year’s winner So You Think and runner-up Snow Fairy and Carlton House.

The race is also part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series, where the winner gets an automatic entry and travel allowance for the Breeders’ Cup.

Leopardstown have also announced a new race on the day with the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Trial, a two-year-old mile Listed event, replacing the Golden Fleece.
