Fallen can rise to Lingfield challenge

In the opening race at Lingfield (2.10), John Gosden's Fallen For You looks to have a real opportunity to follow up a recent Kempton success.

Fallen can rise to Lingfield challenge

The filly showed very good form at a juvenile, highlighted by a second place finish behind Lyric Of Light in the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

She was a little further behind that rival when fifth in the Group 1 Fillies' Mile at Newmarket on her third and final start of the season and while she was not over-faced on her comeback, she beat inferior rivals in the manner one would have expected.

The switch to Lingfield shouldn't pose too much of a problem and it's reasonable to expect further improvement from her.

What may work against her is her lack of experience relative to her rivals but she should have the class to make light of it.

On form, Chachamaidee is the one to beat. Henry Cecil’s filly ran second behind the hat-trick completing Sahpresa in the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket in September.

She was well beaten into second place by Lockinge hopeful Strong Suit on her final outing of the season but she’s back taking on her own sex in this race.

Her only outing on the all-weather came on her debut at this track back in June of 2009 and she showed an aptitude for the surface, winning readily. That clearly won’t be an issue and if she’s somewhere near peak fitness for her seasonal debut, she won’t be out of the frame.

However, I wasn’t always convinced by her finishing effort in the past and find her opposable.

Best Terms has claims on form but she has her stamina to prove, while Godolphin’s Dysphonia is very hard to assess and may be best watched on her British debut.

My Propeller has her stamina and class to prove but if she does stay the trip, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see her outrun odds of 16-1.

However, despite the big field, it’s a race that can be narrowed down quite quickly.

Fallen For You was slow to find her stride last time and a repeat of such antics would be a worry but that was her seasonal debut and she should be sharper now.

She has the benefit of race fitness over favourite Chachamaidee and at odds of around 7-2, she makes most appeal.
