Tellherimnothere a hopeful nap in maiden hurdle
John Joe Walsh’s mare, who has hit the bar on a couple of occasions, has plenty going for her now. Her latest effort was on this track in March, when hitting the deck at the final flight, as she tried to challenge eventual winner, Willie Mullins’ Theleze.
Tellherimnothere was looking held at the time, but almost on terms and, in the context of this contest, that was a smart enough effort.
The selection, obviously, gets the 7lbs sex allowance, but the bonus is she will be partnered by a capable 7lbs claimer, so as long as the tumble the last day hasn’t left its mark should not be far away.
Shark Hanlon, who has had a bad few months, may have something to smile about after Clondaw Warrior runs in the opening www.limerickraces.ie Maiden Hurdle.
He’s a decent sort, with three bumper successes to his credit, and this certainly represents a gentle introduction to jumping.
At Gowran Park tomorrow, Chrysanthemum can continue her fine start to the season by completing a hat-trick in the Listed Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes.
Soft ground holds no fears for the daughter of Danehill Dancer, who began the campaign by winning a Group 3 over a mile at the Curragh.
She then made the step up to ten furlongs with the minimum of fuss, back at the Curragh, when easily taking a Listed event.
David Wachman’s four-year-old is in the form of her life right now and this extended nine furlongs looks ideal for her.
Aidan O’Brien’s Wonderful has to be the choice in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden. She produced two solid efforts last season, finishing second at Dundalk and Leopardstown, and this doesn’t look the most exacting of tests.
The exciting The Westener Boy is hard to oppose in the gowranpark.ie Maiden Hurdle. The former winning point-to-pointer made a spectacular racecourse debut at Fairyhouse on New Year’s day, landing a bumper by 20 lengths.
Trained then by Mags Mullins, he is now in the care of Colm Murphy and carries J P McManus’ colours for the first time.
At Sligo tomorrow Willie Mullins has four real possibilities in Local Celebrity, Dr Machini, Pickapocketortwo and Sizing Tennessee.
It is probably stretching things to believe all four will deliver, but it will be a surprise should the champion trainer fail to at least figure among the winners.
