Spark set to fly in Cork Oaks decider

Tonight’s card at Curraheen Park features the final of the McCarthy Insurance Group Cork Oaks and it’s hard to look beyond Paul Hennessy’s Priceless Spark as she bids to complete an unbeaten run through the stake.

Particularly impressive when outpacing her first-round rivals, she faced a much sterner test in the semi-finals but she proved up to the task, staying on strongly to deny the persistent Smoke Pixie by a neck.

Getting the better of Tivoli Maeve and Tailteann Queen in the early stages is a task in itself but she boasts super all-round pace and is a confident selection to land the €€6,000 winner’s prize, with Smoke Pixie the one most likely to chase her home.

Tonight's programme features seven finals on an all sponsored card and all eyes will be on Milldean Panther when he goes to traps for the first semi-final of the Formula One Grand Prix.

It's near impossible to oppose him after last week's stunning 27.87 solo, but it’d be foolish to read too much into trial form although it’s clear he’s in great form and, importantly, he answered questions about the suitability to this track by railing like a cat the whole way around.

His first task tonight is to get onto the rails and if he can grab that seat early, we could be in for something special. Mines A Pint, who was a fifth in the SIS Live Gold Cup (Milldean Panther finished second) is the one to fill the runner-up spot.
