The Grade Two contest was saved along with the bulk of the card from Saturday’s abandoned fixture at the track, allowing Nicky Henderson’s star chaser to have one final run before his Gold Cup defence.

Henderson has also entered the long-absent Burton Port, while champion trainer Paul Nicholls is set to saddle both Tidal Bay and What A Friend.

David Bridgwater could be represented by his stable star and recent Cheltenham winner The Giant Bolster, with Medermit set to tackle three miles for the first time for Alan King.

Little Josh and Chapel House complete the possibles.

Exciting novice Sprinter Sacre heads a list of nine entries for the Betfair Super Saturday Chase at Newbury’s rearranged meeting on Friday.

Nicky Henderson’s six-year-old has won his two races over fences in spectacular fashion, elevating himself to ante-post favourite for the Racing Post Arkle Chase at Cheltenham next month.

Henderson has also re-entered last year’s winner French Opera for the two-mile heat, registered as the Game Spirit Chase.

Colin Tizzard’s Cue Card and the Paul Nicholls-trained Hold Fast were also among the original entries.

Nick Williams has taken the opportunity of adding Zaynar to the field now the race has been switched.

Other possibles for the race are I’m So Lucky, Kinkeel, Passato and Rockandahardplace.

Riverside Theatre could make his return from injury in the Betfair Ascot Chase at the Berkshire track on Saturday.

The eight-year-old, part-owned by actor Jimmy Nesbitt, has not raced since winning this race 12 months ago.

Nicky Henderson’s charge suffered a stress fracture to his pelvis while being trained for the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham.

However, he is set to make his comeback in the Grade One contest over two miles five and a half furlongs.

An 11-strong entry includes the Paul Nicholls-trained Kauto Stone, last seen finishing second in the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown.

Alan King has put in Medermit while Evan Williams is double-handed with Cappa Bleu and Deep Purple and Nick Williams has entered Gauvain.

Completing the list are Hell’s Bay, I’msingingtheblues, Little Josh, Tatenen and The Sawyer.
