Go Con collects in Cork Open

DESPITE a shortage of hares, the Cork Open and Willie Barry Memorial Cup was completed at a bitterly cold Churchtown South yesterday.

The €1,500 prize went to Anne Murphy of Mallow, Co. Cork when her Go Con, representing the Monee & Quartertown Club, defeated The Six Nutter Syndicate’s (Cork) Call Me Sonia in the final. In the final, Go Con had the better of the handicap, having waited over an hour to go to slips, and he raced away to take the turn by four lengths.
