Byrne lands Macroom double

OWNER Patsy Byrnerecorded a double at Macroom yesterday, taking the All-Aged Stake with Toast Master, which he owns in partnership with bookmaker Berkie Browne, and the Reserve Derby Trial Stake with Breaking Tide.

Both are trained by Pa Fitzgerald of Croagh, Co. Limerick.

Toast Master, who won his trial stake at Clonakilty last season and ran up to High And Mighty at Rathkeale this season, won his opening course against Allaghaun Rover by five lengths and then edged out Ben Nevis in the quarter-final. He had a bye in the semi-final when BloomingBeautiful refused to course in her quarter-final after Same Over was withdrawn.
