All The Aces likely to have Festival warm-up
The seven-year-old, trained by Nicky Henderson, has taken to jumping well after being a useful horse on the Flat for Roger Varian and the late Michael Jarvis.
Runner-up to Prospect Wells on his jumping bow, he got off the mark in pleasing fashion at Newbury on Saturday.
“He won really nicely. He’s only had the two runs so far over hurdles,” owner Alan Spence said.
“His first run against Prospect Wells was good and he’s come on from that and he jumps well. That’s why he’s looking good. As soon as he’s jumped one, he’s looking for the next one so that’s good for everybody. He’ll go for one of the races at Cheltenham subject to how he runs next time and subject to the ground.
“I think if it was fast at Cheltenham, the two-and-a-half mile race (Neptune Management Investment Novices’ Hurdle) would probably be better. If it was slow on the soft side, then the two-mile race (William Hill Supreme Novices’ Hurdle).
“We’re just going to keep the options open. If he goes and wins his third run nicely it would give us a problem.
“That run might be in the beginning of February, just nicely timed from New Year’s Eve to February then on to Cheltenham hopefully.”
