Williams to beat victory Drum at Sandown

Remember just a couple of seasons ago when JJ Lambe’s Drumbaloo was winning all around him? At some stage through his sequence of three bumper victories, punters began to get quite excited about him and he was very well backed for the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham.

Sent off at 8-1 that March day (the same price as runner-up Al Ferof, incidentally, and an awful lot shorter than winner Cue Card) he failed to make a mark but that was just a minor blip on an otherwise very profitable season.

Unfortunately, that signalled the start of a downward spiral which continued into last season, when he took four attempts to win his maiden hurdle, eventually doing so at Ayr.
