ANDREW BALDING’S impressive maiden winner Bonfire shoots for Group One glory in the Criterium International at Saint-Cloud tomorrow.

The juvenile justified strong market support with an eyecatching display on his debut and his trainer is now keen to find out how he fares at the highest level. Balding does not expect the soft ground to trouble him too much, but is unsure what to expect as he takes such a jump in class.

“It’s obviously a big step up in class but the horse has been working well and I’m very happy with him, so hopefully he’ll run a decent race,” said Balding.
