Frontier can get off mark

FRONTIER is the nap choice to land the www.thetote.com/mobile Maiden, on what is a dreadful programme at Navan this afternoon.

Frontier can get off mark

The selection, a son of Galileo, was beaten a long way on his debut at the Curragh ten days ago, but did catch the eye and may prove the best proposition, with betting opportunities particularly limited.

In total he was beaten 17 lengths when sixth behind Call To Battle and it certainly requires a leap of faith to place one’s trust in him now.

But Frontier did seems to handle the soft surface well enough and there was encouragement in the manner in which he was doing all of his best work at the end of that mile.

Ken Condon, with an impressive 21 winners in the bag so far this season, could supply the answer to the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Median Auction Maiden with once-raced Macbeth.

This son of Acclamation went of an unconsidered 20-1 shot on this track two weeks ago and gave promise of better to come.

He wasn’t sighted for much of the contest, but finished to real effect to take fourth spot behind easy winner, Quote Of The Day.

In theory Macbeth holds Diplomat, three quarters of a length behind in fifth, and sixth placed Tower Rock, who was a further four and three quarters of a length adrift in sixth.

Both of those were starting off as well, however, so it basically comes down to which of the trio has made the most improvement in the meantime.

The rest of the card is made up of five almost totally unattractive handicaps and four of them are surely best given the swerve.

The exception could be the www.thetote.com/mobile Handicap in which Fred Fenster makes a quick reappearance after bolting in on soft ground at Cork last Saturday.

He runs now under a mandatory 5lbs penalty, but has been raised a whopping 20lbs in the future by the handicapper.

If believing the handicapper then a large wager is required and if not then, perhaps, an autumnal stroll might not go astray!
