Golan can complete hat-trick

THE Tony Martin-trained Golan Guy should make Ruby Walsh’s trip to Tramore worthwhile by landing the Tramore Supporters Club Handicap Hurdle today.

Golan can complete hat-trick

The six-year-old has been frustrating to follow but he’s bidding for a mixed hat-trick today, following victory in the Ulster Cesarewitch at Down Royal on his penultimate start, before scoring on his chasing debut at Downpatrick two weeks ago.

A hold-up horse, he has shown greater resolution in those recent wins, travelling particularly well before slamming the unreliable Definite All Star last time.

Rated 102 over hurdles and suited by today’s trip of two miles and five furlongs, Golan Gut should prove difficult to beat.

Jim Culloty enjoyed a welcome change of luck when Barrel Of Laughs won in Tipperary on Tuesday and his Regal D’Estruval might be capable of following suit in today’s Dunhill Beginners Chase.

This six-year-old, whose only success came in a maiden hurdle at Roscommon, is a bold-jumping, front-runner with a style of racing suited by the tight Tramore track.

Culloty’s charge has an edge in experience over most of his rivals, possessing solid placed form over fences, including thirds to Prince Of Fire at Limerick and to Venture Lazarus at Galway last time.

On his only previous visit to Tramore, he finished a creditable second to Gudnis Gracious Me in June.

With in-form Tom Doyle in the saddle, Regal D’Estruval looks sure to lead his rivals a merry dance and, on this occasion, his rivals might be unable to peg him back.
