Russell rules with classy treble

DAVY RUSSELL gave a masterclass of waiting in front aboard Royal Choice in the Tipperary Home Of Hurling Hurdle at Clonmel last night.

He quickened and slowed the pace to suit himself and the sweet-jumping mare did the rest, holding the persistent challenge of Eyre Apparent with a degree of ease on the run-in.

Trainer Henry de Bromhead said: “A few of ours have been disappointing of late and it was nice she saw out her race. Davy, as usual, gave her a great ride.”
