JOHN OXX is hopeful Emiyna is returning to her best form ahead Saturday’s run in the Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown.

Oxx has high hopes for Emiyna

A comeback victory at Dundalk was followed by Group Three success at the Curragh and as a result, she was among the leading fancies for the Irish 1,000 Guineas.

Although disappointing in the Classic, she was subsequently found to have suffered an injury and spent three months out of action prior to a recent second in the Desmond Stakes.

Oxx feels his filly will have improved significantly for that run fitness-wise, but acknowledges she has plenty on her plate this weekend.

“It’s a hot race, but we’re happy with her and she’ll take her chance,” said Oxx. “We were a bit disappointed at the Curragh last time as we hoped she’d be able to win that race, but she had a setback in the Guineas and she might just have needed the run.

“We’ll give her the benefit of the doubt anyway and she’ll wear blinkers for the first time on Saturday. We struggled to get her back to the form she showed in the spring but if she can get back to that sort of form, she should run well.”
