Puttore poised for quick follow-up

KEVIN Prendergast’s Puttore is a confident nap choice in the Seamus Weldon www.mowers.ie Race at the final stage of Killarney this evening.

Puttore poised for quick follow-up

The daughter of High Chaparral was a very promising juvenile, running two cracking races. She began by finishing a length second to the smart Together at Leopardstown and produced an even better performance at the Curragh next time when beaten a short head and the same into third behind Wild Wind and Laughing Lashes.

That Curragh race was on Derby weekend, June 26, and Puttore wasn’t seen for the rest of the campaign, after fracturing a knee.

She reappeared at headquarters last Saturday and was very easy to back. But Puttore showed she had lost none of her ability, cruising to an easy four and a half lengths success in a modest maiden.

Her shrewd handler has decided to turn her out again quickly and that can only be taken as a positive sign.

Dermot Weld’s Galileo’s Choice, with a rating of 102, should prove hard to beat in the KWD Recycling Race.

He comes here fresh from scrambling to a narrow victory over Drumfire over flights at the Galway festival.

Galileo’s Choice is obviously entitled to the utmost respect, but John Kiely’s dual bumper winner, Blossom Gate, could have the legs on him.

She was especially impressive at Galway last time and, taking claims into consideration, will be in receipt of 15lbs from Galileo’s Choice.

David Wachman’s Outback is the one to beat in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden for colts and geldings.

He showed nothing first time up at Down Royal, but subsequently improved dramatically at Gowran Park when beaten a length and half by Aidan O’Brien’s imposing newcomer Daddy Long Legs.

At Down Royal, Burma Rock, who bolted in at Kilbeggan a week ago, can do the business again in the Guinness Hurdle.
