Mitsy can overcome draw in Oaks
Liam Dowling’s Ballymac Mitsy is the one to beat in the Oaks, despite a potentially hazardous draw in trap six.
In the two previous rounds of the stake she’s posted 28.67 and 28.65, while she gave further evidence of her rude health with a stunning 29.67 victory in the first round of the Derby at Shelbourne Park on Thursday night.
A finalist in this race last year, which was won by Clearview Kelly, she was unable to get free in the early stages on that occasion but such is the level of her form right now, she can overcome the wide draw to claim a deserved success.
The danger is likely to come from the inside bitches, Monleek Chloe and Kranky Ma.
Belindas Lee rates the bet of the night in the final of the Frightful Flash A2 Stakes. John O’Brien’s dog is recapturing his best form and he can be expected to lead all the way from a perfect draw. In the final of the Shanagarry A4, sponsored by Pat Walsh, Cornelius Foley’s Treefurtoo can finally gain reward for her consistency. She can lead down the middle and, with the likelihood of crowding on the outside, can race home in front to claim the €1,000 purse.
Leeview Champ should take beating in the fourth race. Tommy Delaney’s dog should lead down the middle and may prove difficult to peg back. Big Ronda showed eye-catching ability in defeat on her debut and is worth noting.
