Bear reports for duty in Papin

BEAR Behind is the sole British representative in a field of five for the Prix Robert Papin at Maisons-Laffitte tomorrow.

Fifth in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot, Tom Dascombe’s youngster was last seen finishing third in a Listed event at Sandown. William Buick rides.

Chief opposition to the Dascombe raider is likely to come from Family One, conqueror of Boomerang Bob in a Group Three at Chantilly earlier in the month.

Mac Row, Kapitala and Louve Rouge complete the field.

On the same card, Buick rides French Derby fourth Colombian for his boss, John Gosden, in the Prix Eugene Adam.

The 10-furlong Group Two event also features the Hughie Morrison-trained Royal Ascot winner Pisco Sour, the mount of Jimmy Fortune.

* Bath will race around a bend at their next meeting following a successful trial after racing on Thursday.

Officials were forced to call off a number of the longer contests scheduled to take place at their last two fixtures after two horses slipped up at a meeting at the start of the month.

With the realigned bend having been tested and deemed safe by the British Horseracing Authority, racing will once again take place over middle distances on their next card on July 29.

All races run over a mile, however, have been abandoned for the remainder of the season.
