Dark can light up Mallow

ALTHOUGH without a win since February of last year, Won In The Dark stands out in tonight’s Dermot Casey - Hire Sales and Tree Services Hurdle in Mallow.

Dark can light up Mallow

Trained by Sabrina Harty, the Montjeu-gelding is a six-time winner over hurdles, having registered his most significant win in a Grade 1 juvenile event at the 2008 Punchestown Festival.

Won In The Dark has competed at the top level in recent seasons and ran a cracker when, upped to three miles, he finished twelve lengths third behind champion stayer Big Bucks and Grands Crus in the Liverpool Hurdle at Aintree in April.

Since then, he was beaten little more than nine lengths when sixth to Quevega in the Grade 1 stayers’ event at the Punchestown Festival before finding a drop to the minimum trip of two miles against him when beaten by Action Master at Punchestown in late May.

Officially rated 153, Won In The Dark will have Ruby Walsh on board for the first time and is preferred to Eamonn O’Connell’s veteran Powerstation.
