Bin Suroor confident about Delegator

DELEGATOR will run over six furlongs or the first time in tomorrow’s Duke of York Blue Square Stakes and trainer Saeed Bin Suroor is confident he will be able to handle the drop in trip.

Second to the mighty Sea The Stars in the 2,000 Guineas two years ago, Delegator has been mostly campaigned over a mile, but did compete at seven furlongs twice last term.

He lines up under Frankie Dettori in York’s Group 2 contest and, with a bold display, could enhance his claims for the Golden Jubilee Stakes .

“Delegator has shown a lot of speed in his races and I think that six furlongs is the right distance for him to try now,” said Bin Suroor. “He worked well on Sunday morning and he is in good form at the moment. He will improve for his first start of the season, but I’m looking forward to seeing him run a nice race.”

The Brian Meehan-trained Inler is raedy for a big run too.

“We were delighted with his comeback at Newmarket which will have blown away the cobwebs for this talented performer,” said Meehan.

"He improved throughout the second half of last year and having continued to work well since that comeback, he deserves his shot at this level."
